Katchup introduces a groundbreaking web platform aimed at transforming how meet-ups and conferences are planned and executed. Highlighting ease of use and participant engagement, it enables effortless event scheduling and management, avoiding the complexities and costs of traditional software. Its innovative design token system simplifies every step of planning, from automatic saving to instant updates and quick publishing.

This approach allows event organizers, speakers, and attendees to concentrate on the substance and networking aspects of their gatherings, rather than on logistical challenges. Katchup makes it easy to organize impactful, well-coordinated events, ensuring memorable experiences free from technical hindrances. Suitable for both intimate gatherings and large-scale conferences, Katchup offers the versatility, efficiency, and dependability necessary to unite people and create significant connections.


Design Process

  1. Research

My research delved into several critical domains:

  • Competitive Analysis: I meticulously examined platforms offering similar functionalities, focusing on their strengths and weaknesses, user interface designs, and unique selling points. This investigation illuminated key industry trends and potential areas where Katchup could excel or differentiate itself.


  • Understanding Target Users: By dissecting user demographics, behaviors, and feedback, I gained insights into the specific requirements, expectations, and frustrations of potential Katchup users. This user-centric perspective is crucial to tailor Katchup's features and user experience effectively.


  • Data Analytics: I explored advanced analytics to understand how Katchup can leverage data for actionable insights, helping users optimize their event management processes. This involved identifying the most relevant metrics and data visualization strategies to enhance user decision-making and engagement.


  • Design System: I delved deeper into creating a robust design system for Katchup, emphasizing scalability, consistency, and intuitive interaction. This framework not only guides the aesthetic aspects but also ensures usability and accessibility, aligning with best practices in design and user experience.

Through this comprehensive research, I aimed to lay a solid foundation for developing Katchup into a user-friendly, competitive, and innovative platform for event management.


  1. Low-Fidelity Wireframes

After completing the initial research for the CalendQ project, I embarked on the creation of low-fidelity wireframes for the web application. This process involved sketching out basic layouts and interface elements to establish the structure and flow of the user experience. The wireframes served as a visual guide, facilitating discussions about feature placement and user interactions while allowing for rapid iteration based on feedback. This foundational step was instrumental in aligning the project team's understanding and setting the stage for more detailed design development.


  1. High-Fidelity Wireframes

Upon completing the low-fidelity wireframes, I transitioned to crafting the final high-fidelity designs for the Katchup application. This stage involved refining the visuals, incorporating brand elements, and detailing the user interface with precision. High-fidelity designs offered a polished, realistic representation of the application, enabling stakeholders to visualize the end product and facilitating user testing for valuable feedback.


Exploring Design Treatments

  • Booking Events

Designing the home page, or Booking Dashboard, for the Katchup web application was a pivotal task. The dashboard serves as the central hub where users immediately land after the login process. I focused on ensuring that the dashboard provides a clear and comprehensive overview of the user's activities. It displays various cards representing different event categories such as upcoming, recurring, completed, and canceled events, offering a snapshot of the user's engagements. Each event card includes essential details like the event title, invitees, date, time, and an edit option, facilitating easy management and modification of events. The design emphasizes usability and clarity, aiming to enhance the user experience by providing immediate, organized access to crucial information.


  • Add New Event

In designing the "Add New Event" flow, I meticulously developed a user-centric flow, beginning with the user's initiation to create a new event via the "Create New Event" button.

The user is presented with a clear choice between "1 on 1" and "Group" events, aiding in tailoring the event's format to their needs. Upon selection, a progress bar visually marks the user's journey, enhancing clarity and navigation ease.

The information input phase is intuitive, requesting essential details to define the event's identity, with advanced options available for deeper customization. The process culminates in a confirmation screen, reinforcing the user's achievement and facilitating a smooth return to the dashboard. This design thoughtfully streamlines event creation, prioritizing user ease and engagement.


  • Availability

The well-received user interface, blending form with function, has markedly reduced the time and effort typically required to arrange events, leading to an uptick in user satisfaction and engagement. In essence, CalendQ has successfully transformed the complexity of event planning into a seamless, user-friendly experience.
